
Mt Barker Outclass Adelaide Hills in State League Thriller
Mt Barker United travelled to Woodside to play against local State League 2 South team the Adelaide Hills Hawks for their third meeting of the season. At the same venue in Round 3 of the league, Hills defeated Mt Barker 2-0 and the return fixture at Mt Barker’s home ended in a 2-2 with a last minute goal from Hills salvaging a point.
Keeping the same lineup after their win over league leaders Eastern United, Mt Barker started strong with early chances. Both sides battled hard, but it was Oscar Knight who broke the deadlock with a stunning long-range strike.
Mt Barker defended well all game, with keeper Dawson Bojanic making key saves to keep a clean sheet — their first of the season. Despite a late offside goal from Knight, Mt Barker held on for a deserved 1-0 win and now head to Seaford aiming to keep the momentum.
In the Reserves, Mt Barker controlled the first half but were kept scoreless by a strong Hawks keeper.
After halftime, Mt Barker took over again, with Daniel Searle scoring the opener and an own goal making it 2-0. The Reserves held firm to secure a vital win in the finals race..
