All Mt Barker United SC Junior programs follow the Football Australia National Curriculum as discussed on our Junior Pathways page. However with our Girl’s teams the delivery by the coaches has a female focus.
What does a female focus mean?
It’s been identified in numerous published studies that the motivation for females to play sport differs from men, they can be subtle, but need to be considered when creating a welcoming environment for the female players to thrive. Having fun, building strong friendships, keeping fit and healthy and feeling like they are improving are a number of the reasons identified why female’s play football.
Our coaches are encouraged to use these criteria when designing and delivering the fundamental football program. It sounds simple, but sometimes it’s easily forgotten that what works for boys may not for girls so that needs to be front-of-mind for those coaching our female teams.
Mt Barker United SC has junior teams competing at two different levels. We enter teams in the grassroots Adelaide Hills Junior Football Association (AHJFA) Competition and we also provide the opportunity for our players to step up to the Football SA Girls Leagues. The Football SA Girls competitions are widely recognised as the top-tier junior girls competition in the state, playing against teams from across metropolitan Adelaide.
No matter what level of player you are or aspire to be, Mt Barker United SC has a spot for you to be competitive.
