Enjoyable. Accessible. Female Focus.

By establishing specific Womens and Girl’s Programs managed by our Women’s and Girls Working Group ensures females have a unique environment within the club to feel comfortable, confident and enjoy the game of football. Mt Barker United SC is also focused on making sure there is strong female voice off the pitch with an emphasis on developing female coaches, along with the club being actively involved in the Football SA Women in Leadership program.

Our Female Programs offer the opportunity for the player to find their level, from playing socially with friends to applying themselves and committing to reaching a higher step of competition. Starting with Juniors from under 6, right through to senior football where females can continue to push to improve by training to play in our First team or just play for fun and fitness in the Community team.

No matter to what level you aspire to reach we encourage all our players to support each other to fulfil their ambitions.

6 – 16 years: Fun with friends

Girl’s Teams

All Mt Barker United SC Junior programs follow the Football Australia National Curriculum as discussed on our Junior Pathways page. However with our Girl’s teams the delivery by the coaches has a female focus.

What does a female focus mean?
It’s been identified in numerous published studies that the motivation for females to play sport differs from men, they can be subtle, but need to be considered when creating a welcoming environment for the female players to thrive. Having fun, building strong friendships, keeping fit and healthy and feeling like they are improving are a number of the reasons identified why female’s play football.

Our coaches are encouraged to use these criteria when designing and delivering the fundamental football program. It sounds simple, but sometimes it’s easily forgotten that what works for boys may not for girls so that needs to be front-of-mind for those coaching our female teams.

Mt Barker United SC has junior teams competing at two different levels. We enter teams in the grassroots Adelaide Hills Junior Football Association (AHJFA) Competition and we also provide the opportunity for our players to step up to the Football SA Girls Leagues. The Football SA Girls competitions are widely recognised as the top-tier junior girls competition in the state, playing against teams from across metropolitan Adelaide.

No matter what level of player you are or aspire to be, Mt Barker United SC has a spot for you to be competitive.

Women’s First Team

Those motivated to play high-level senior football will be drawn to our Women’s First Team. Training twice week this squad is at the vanguard of our ambition to compete in the Womens State League in the near future.

Players at this level have a desire to continually improve as footballers and embrace the committed nature of striving to achieve success. High performance practices such as nutrition plans, strength and conditioning programs as well as game and training video analysis can be accessed by the players and coaches all designed to help the players improve their skills and stay fit and healthy.

Whilst the commitment and expectations are higher, the clubs coaches will always be looking to make the environment enjoyably serious.
