Female Football Week 2025 at the Mt Barker United Soccer Club

It’s no secret that the Mt Barker United Soccer Club has long been a champion of equality of ambition and participation when it comes to the sport of Soccer.

For over a decade the club has entered teams in the Community Women’s Programs with Football South Australia and has won numerous trophies along the way.

For nearly 20 years the club has also been entering girls teams in junior competitions.

In 2025 the club was also awarded the “Changers of April: Champions for Women and Girls in Football” by Football Australia, proudly the only club in South Australia. Read more about why Football Australia recognised us for how each we are driving positive change in their communities.

President Natasha Raven:

‘Utilising the Club Changer Program has helped us as a club support the Women and Girls by implementing programs to help develop and recognise achievement within our teams. Going through the 2 star process has allowed us to create clear plans and strategies to further develop our club. It has helped us direct the girls and ladies in a positive environment and by doing this, we have a strong young adult women’s team who understand and support each other on field, as well as a board that supports them off field.’

Girls and Womens Coordinator Sarah Kereszi:

‘I’m incredibly proud of the growth of girls’ and women’s football at our club. We’re building on a legacy that started with passion and vision, and now we’re taking it to new heights. The dedication of our players, past and present, continues to inspire – and I couldn’t be prouder of the incredible women and girls representing our club today.’

We also were just the second club in South Australia, and 10th club, country wide to receive our 2 star Club Changer status through Football Australia, an initiative to help clubs build sustainable, welcoming and inclusive cultures.

It is one of our goals to ensure a more inclusive and equitable future, where women lead and inspire in football. Whilst we’ve made great strides within the club, we know that the journey has only just begun and we have lots still to do!

For Female Football Week our Social Media Manager Chrissy Cruise interviewed girls and women around the club. Check out the video here
