Junior program to get a big boost
Mt Barker United SC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ben Howard as Technical Director of the club. Ben comes to Mt Barker from Port Pirie where he has been the Lead Teacher of the John Pirie Secondary School Soccer Academy since 2017, which has given him the perfect background to assist the club in creating the best environment for local players to develop their football.
Along with Ben’s teaching experience, he holds a current FFA ‘C’ Licence, Futsal Licence along with Skill Training, Game Training and MiniRoos Certificates. Ben has also been a coach at the FootballSA Regional Camps in Adelaide and Wallaroo. A State Futsal Coach for the u12 boys at the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships in Sydney. Plus he’s been a Team Manager with the u17 boys at the 2019 Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup.
He has an intimate understanding of the pathways available to aspiring footballers, male and female along with the challenges faced by a regional club and its players in competing against the best young footballers in the state. His energy and passion in tackling and solving these challenges we hope is infectious for the coaches and players at Mt Barker United SC.
Whilst Ben’s primary focus will be developing junior footballers, he will also work in with the Senior coaching group to ensure the club’s football philosophy and culture is seamless from the MiniRoos to the Seniors.
Welcome aboard Ben, we look forward to providing opportunities to the aspiring footballers in the hills.
