120 Games and Counting: Kaylem Short Breaks Club Record

Mount Barker United is proud to celebrate a major milestone for one of its most dedicated players—Kaylem Short, who has officially become the club’s all-time appearance leader in the Football South Australia State League competition.

The record-breaking moment came during Mount Barker’s impressive 3-1 victory over Seaford Rangers at Karingal Reserve. In surpassing the previous record held by Michael McGrath, Kaylem etched his name into club history.

Since joining the State League squad in 2019, Kaylem has been a consistent and influential figure on and off the pitch. He has served in key leadership roles as both Captain and Vice-Captain, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, and the broader club community.

Kaylem’s time at the club has spanned significant change, including the move from Cornerstone College to the Summit Sport and Recreation Park in 2021. Through it all, his commitment and presence have helped guide the squad’s growth and development.

Long-time club figure and former coach Alex Taylor spoke highly of Kaylem’s contribution:

“Kaylem’s 120 games for Mount Barker is a huge milestone. His leadership, consistency, and commitment on and off the pitch are a testament to his character. He’s had a huge impact on many players at the club and is a true club legend.”

Mount Barker United congratulates Kaylem Short on this remarkable achievement—a reflection of his loyalty, leadership, and enduring passion for the game.
